Heart Signet Ring

Origin
The signet ring began not as ornament but as proof of identity. In medieval Europe, nobles and merchants engraved a family crest or set of initials into the ring's face, pressed it into hot wax and sealed a letter. That impression served as signature and as contract. The face had to be flat, full and substantial enough to leave a clean mark—the common origin of every signet form that followed.

Proportion
The heart is the softest of the signet forms. Two curves draw inward to a single point, replacing the regularity of the circle and the square, and the scale is deliberately reduced so the ring sits quietly on the hand. The shoulders taper away from the face in one continuous line, with no break in the profile—close to the knuckle and easy in daily wear. It suits the pinky and the ring finger, and stacks well with finer bands.

Composition
The compact face is suited to a single element: one initial, a short monogram, a date, or a small motif. The fewer the characters, the more generously the lettering can be scaled and the more legible the result. This form is not suited to longer text or intricate linework.

Custom engraving
The face can be configured to your requirements: letters, numbers, short text in English or Chinese, and small-scale motifs. Ang Jewellery adjusts typeface and layout to the proportions of the face, with production beginning after proof confirmation. The face may also be left plain, preserving the full mirrored curve.

Two finishes are available. Oxidized engraving darkens the lines for sharp, high-contrast definition. Polished engraving leaves the metal bare, revealing the design as the light shifts—a more restrained effect.
