The silhouette
The outline here is not a plain diamond shape but a quatrefoil—four lobes drawn from concave edges meeting at four points. The form comes from Gothic tracery and the rose windows of medieval cathedrals, and has carried associations of wholeness and good fortune through centuries of European decorative work. It remains one of the most enduring geometries in jewellery.

Where a plain rhombus or circle reads flat, the quatrefoil alternates curve against point, so the silhouette itself catches light in sequence. The shape does the ornamental work; nothing further is added.

The five-stone setting
A single diamond anchors the centre, with four more set outward along the four lobes.

The arrangement is a matter of visual scale. The stones reflect into one another, dispersing fire across the whole face, so the pendant reads larger and brighter than a single stone of equivalent total weight. For everyday wear, it is a way of achieving presence without added weight or cost.

The settings
Each of the five diamonds sits in its own four-prong setting, with the prongs exposed and no bezel around the stone. This admits the maximum amount of light and gives the fullest expression of the diamond's fire.

The trade-off is practical: exposed prongs can catch on fine fabrics, so take care with knits and chiffon, and have the settings checked periodically after extended wear.
